Boca Raton, FL -

VAS' Sr. Director of Quality and Operations, Kevin Flynn was recently featured in AviTrader's magazine. In the article Kevin shared that “There are several key factors that should be considered. First is understanding the history of the part and expectations for its current condition. What is the origin of the part? Is there a clear ownership chain? What is the operational history of the part and what environmental stresses was it subjected to? What was the original projected life span of the part and where in that lifecycle is it? What is the maintenance history? Are all the part’s traceability and maintenance documentation acceptable?

Secondly, what inspection procedures has the part been subjected to? For some non-safety critical parts, simple visual inspection by a qualified technician is sufficient to determine its current condition. For other, more flight-critical materials, more advanced diagnostic tests and repairs may be required, based on the OEMs CMM or AMM, in which case a visual inspection is not enough. Has the quality, condition and serviceability of the material been certified, and by whom? VAS algins itself with proven suppliers that are continually monitored to ensure exceptional product quality and on-time delivery.”

The new corporate look underscores VAS’s heritage of aircraft life cycle management and reflects the company’s position as a valued subsidiary of Satair

Boca Raton, FL -

VAS Aero Services Unveils Refreshed Corporate Brand Identity

VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services, launched its new corporate brand identity with the introduction of its new “heritage green” logo - a nod to previous VAS branding, as well as enhanced aligned tagline, “a Satair service company”.

Encompassing the new logo, new corporate colors and type font, as well as the tagline signaling the company’s close alliance with aviation aftermarket leader Satair, VAS’s refreshed corporate identity is being rolled out across external channels and in the organization.

“Long-term customers, business partners and followers of VAS Aero Services will still recognize us in this new look. By design, we’ve kept some elements of who we are and have been,” notes VAS CEO Tommy Hughes. “But our new identity is also an indication of where VAS is going, in terms of our close affiliation with Satair, our emphasis on innovation and our unwavering commitment to aircraft lifecycle management and promoting second-life aircraft solutions.”

Satair, an Airbus Services company, acquired VAS Aero Services a year ago, establishing VAS as a wholly owned stand-alone subsidiary. That acquisition has created a global aviation support services organization with greater geographic reach and a broader depth of aviation logistics and aftermarket services.

Commenting on the smooth transition to Satair ownership, Hughes states that “Since joining Satair, VAS has seen a significant growth in the acquisition of used serviceable materials and the expansion of its customer base. We have more active programs under management than at any time in the company’s 40-plus-year history. Together with Satair, we are validating the aviation industry’s focus on extending the lifecycle of aircraft and utilizing opportunities to recycle material.”

Consignment agreement expands to five the total number of Airbus A320-family airframes designated for teardown and serviceable parts harvesting

Boca Raton, FL -

VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services, announced it will acquire two additional Airbus narrowbody airframes from Dublin, Ireland-based Avolon Aerospace Leasing, LLC, a leading international aircraft leasing company. VAS will manage the teardown of both airframes and the subsequent residual parts harvesting and marketing through its global aftermarket parts marketplace.

This agreement represents an expansion of the January 2022 consignment agreement between the two companies under which VAS acquired three Avolon A320 family airframes for teardown. The two additional airframes include an Airbus A319-100 (MSN 2362) and an A320-100 (MSN 2299).  The Used Serviceable Materials (USM) from both teardowns will augment VAS’s widely accessed aftermarket parts inventory, distributed through the company’s worldwide airline operator customer base.  The teardown of both aircraft will be performed at Hondo, TX, in early 2023.

“VAS has established an enviable reputation as a technical and market leader in Airbus aircraft teardowns and USM sales.  The expansion of our consignment and disassembly agreement with Avolon Aerospace is further evidence of those capabilities,” said VAS CEO Tommy Hughes.  “As our relationship with Avolon continues to strengthen, we are grateful for their confidence in our ability to deliver superior results that help operators and lessors realize the full residual value of their assets.”
