Boca Raton, FL -

Satair, an Airbus Services company, and VAS Aero Services, a leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services including end-of-life support, have signed an agreement under which Satair acquires VAS Aero Services, through its US subsidiary, Satair USA, Inc. VAS will continue as a separate enterprise, with operational sites and offices in Boca Raton (FL), Kent (WA) and London (UK), expanding Satair’s global footprint and aviation aftermarket service capabilities.

The acquisition complements Satair’s existing offerings through VAS’ expertise in managing engine and multi-fleet Used Serviceable Material (USM) products, which will play a key role in Satair’s strategic growth initiative in this segment.

“The customers’ demands are changing and we observe a clear prioritization of maximizing value through the complete aircraft lifecycle and beyond, focusing on cost-effectiveness and sustainability. With this acquisition, we are addressing the customers’ needs and securing Satair’s future footprint as a leading player in the material and USM business. Thereby, we are enhancing our capabilities to serve our customers and OEMs through the complete aircraft lifecycle. This acquisition is also a natural fit to Satair’s overall strategy and a complement to the Airbus sustainability agenda at large,” says Bart Reijnen, CEO of Satair.

Adi Bernstein, VAS Executive Chairman, said that “As owners and stewards of VAS for the past 10 years, David Alcalay and I viewed this joining with Satair and Airbus as a natural next step in the evolution of VAS Aero Services. The agreement follows years of Satair and VAS working together on servicing, warehousing as well as certification and distribution of USM products, including excess and surplus inventory.”

Satair’s existing offering has continuously grown over the years and recently Satair introduced its digital Marketplace, an e-commerce solution for material at competitive prices. VAS will tie into the parts channel of Satair, fostering new capabilities to this innovative and first-of-its-kind online Marketplace by offering an end-to-end transaction and fulfillment capability at significantly lower cost.

Tommy Hughes, CEO of VAS Aero Services, adds “VAS and Satair have worked closely for years; this acquisition further strengthens that bond, while giving our customers access to even more resources and USM products to prolong the useful life of their aviation assets. The Satair-VAS alliance offers a broader reach, a deeper service capability and cost efficiencies that will afford us a competitive advantage. Together, we are well-positioned to respond to changing market demands and lead with parts and service solutions that enable customer success.”

Contract award marks the third Dr. Peters Group Airbus A380 to be dismantled by VAS

Boca Raton, FL -

VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services, and Dortmund, Germany-based Dr. Peters Group, an investment fund management firm and lessor with assets in aviation, real estate and shipping, announced the placement of an Airbus A380-800 aircraft with VAS for teardown and redistribution of high-market-demand used, serviceable material. Teardown commenced in November.

This contract award follows the companies’ successful teardown of the first two A380 aircraft ever to be designated for dismantlement. Under the current consignment agreement, Dr. Peters will retain ownership of the Rolls Royce engines for re-leasing, while VAS will manage the aircraft dismantlement for global sale and distribution of sought-after material.

“We are delighted to be working once again with VAS Aero Services on the dismantlement of an Airbus A380 aircraft,” noted Christian Mailly, Head of Aviation. “We have seen VAS’s capabilities in managing the teardown of sophisticated aircraft such as the A380 in previous projects and their worldwide aftermarket sales network. We are looking forward to deliver best in class results from the teardown for our aviation fund investors together with VAS.”

VAS will manage the teardown of the A380 airframe through its partnership with Tarmac Aerosave, a leader in aircraft storage, maintenance and recycling based in Tarbes, France. Harvested serviceable parts will be marketed via a worldwide sales network, leveraging VAS’s strategic position as a valued spare parts supplier to OEMs, MROs and airlines around the globe.

“The aircraft to be dismantled is in flight-ready condition, increasing the reliability and serviceable life of the harvested parts, and assuring quick availability to support A380 operators and other fleets sharing part number commonality,” said Tommy Hughes, VAS.

Chief Executive Officer. “We are gratified that Dr. Peters Group has once again selected VAS for our technical expertise and parts marketing capabilities, further demonstrating that VAS is, indeed, the go-to source for revenue maximizing end-of-life services for airline operators, OEMs and lessors around the globe.”
